This may look like something from outer space but it is in fact a jellyfish, photographed by Alexander Semenov in the freezing waters of the White Sea off the coast of northwest Russia  The lion's mane is the largest kind of jellyfish. One specimen discovered in Massachusetts Bay, US, in 1870 had a diametre of 2.29m and tentacle length of 37m  | |
