definition: an advantage that you have that other people do not know about

1. The local team has an ace in the hole with their new player.

P.S : Hey fellas, this idiom has an interesting root. in stud poker



 (every poker variants that have mix of face-down and face-ups cards),



 the face down cards are called "hole cards".



 these are the cards that you have access to them and these are sort of the "advantages".



 having "ace" in the hole cards is like a jackpot
